Campus Patrol

The University and surrounding neighborhood is patrolled by Eugene Police Officers and UODPS Officers regularly throughout both day and night. Eugene Police are available on campus and provide coverage in off campus locations; UODPS Officers patrol only University property with bicycles, on foot, and in vehicles.

Bicycle Patrols

Bicycles provide a quick response to emergencies while patrolling campus because of their ability to maneuver through pedestrian traffic and areas that vehicles can't easily reach.

Officers on bicycles are readily accessible to the public and may conveniently be hailed by the community. This economical form of patrol fits well with the campus environment and is a clean alternative to petroleum powered vehicles.

Eugene Police and UODPS bicycles may be on patrol at any time, day or night, but are most effective during fair weather. When on patrol, officers on bikes are always available for assistance or if you have questions.

Foot Patrols

UODPS Officers and Community Service Officers conduct regular foot patrols in buildings and around campus, daily. The focus of these patrols is building security, personal safety of students and staff, and to maintain an active presence throughout the campus to deter crime.

Vehicle Patrols

Officers in vehicles patrol campus parking lots and streets throughout the day and night. Similar to Eugene Police, UODPS uses both marked and unmarked cars.

Jeeps provide good visibility and effective response in all weather conditions. Vans, trucks and sedans are also used for various patrol, utility and escort duties.
