RE: Motor pool closure update

As most of you are aware the DAS motor pool located in Glenwood will close on June 30, 2009.

The Department of Public Safety, Office of Student Affairs, Campus Operations and Business Affairs Office have been working diligently with other campus partners to identify both short-term and long-term solutions to correct for the loss of this very important service.

Starting July 1, 2009 the following daily and weekly vehicle options will be available to the University of Oregon community:

Continue to use DAS vehicles from the Salem Motor Pool:

Use the Motor Pool at the Oregon State University Campus:

Contact Enterprise Rent-A-Car as they have a State Contract:

Use your personal vehicle for travel and submit for mileage reimbursement through your department.

If your travel needs are to Portland, Amtrak has a bus that leaves campus several times a day to the Amtrak Portland station. It makes several trips a day from Portland back to Eugene. There is a link to the Amtrak web-site on the Public Safety web-site: http://safetyweb.uoregon.edu/

The University will continue discussions for a long term solution for vehicle needs. When more information is available we will issue updates.
